ASUS maintains its presence in the portable SSD market with the ROG Strix brand; now it’s getting ready to launch its first internal SSD. The company announced the ROG Strix SQ7 model with its official Facebook page.
The Taiwanese company, which produces all the components that a computer user will need, from the graphics card to the motherboard, from the laptop to the headset, keyboard and mouse, also appeals to smart phone users with its Zenfone and ROG Phone series. ASUS is preparing to expand its product line with the ROG Strix SQ7 NVMe SSD model.
ASUS ROG Strix SQ7 NVMe SSD specifications
The SSD, which is in the M.2 2280 form factor, uses 4 PCIe Gen4 lanes. As seen in the shared poster, the product does not have a heat sink section, but it is stated to have a storage capacity of 1 TB.
ASUS’ Z690 motherboards supporting PCIe Gen5 technology are on sale. It is also estimated that it can develop an SSD with PCIe 5.0 support, but there is no official step in this regard yet. On the other hand, the ROG Strix SQ7 is expected to be unveiled at the “Boundless” event on May 17 or at Computex on May 24.
ASUS’ ROG Strix branded portable SSDs can reach up to 1TB of storage depending on the model and can reach 1050MB/s read and write speeds. Preparing to compete with companies such as Samsung, Gigabyte, MSI and SanDisk in terms of ‘internal SSD’, ASUS will offer consumers a solid alternative with the ROG Strix SQ7.
While the device is expected to be initially available in China, its price remains a mystery for now.
