The Formula 1 world has been shaken by big and dramatic news recently. Sebastian Vettel, a 4-time world champion and a favorite of almost every Formula 1 fan, announced that he would retire. With Vettel’s retirement at the end of this year, it has been started to wonder who will take place in the cockpit that will be vacated next year.

Here is the expected statement from the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 team today. Sharing on their social media accounts, the team announced that another legendary pilot, Fernando Alonso, will replace Sebastian Vettel. There was also a statement about his transfer from the successful pilot, who won the world championship twice.

Fernando Alonso’s description:

“The Aston Martin team uses its energy and determination to win and that is why it is one of the most exciting teams in Formula 1 today. I have known Lawrence and Lance for many years and it is clear that they have the ambition and passion to succeed in Formula 1. I have watched this team systematically attract great people with a winning pedigree, and have noticed the great commitment to new facilities and resources at Silverstone.

No one in Formula 1 today shows a greater vision and absolute commitment to winning and this is a really exciting opportunity for me. I still have the hunger and ambition to fight to be on the frontline, and I want to be part of an organization that is committed to learning, growth and success.

We all know that there is a lot to do to stand out and that we need to use all our energies to work together to find performance. The passion and desire for performance that I have witnessed convinces me to continue my enjoyment and commitment to the sport. I intend to win again in this sport so I have to take the opportunities that come my way.”

The 41-year-old legendary pilot Fernando Alonso became the youngest champion by winning the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship at the age of 24 years and 58 days in 2005. This record of Alonso was taken away by Lewis Hamilton in 2006 and then Sebastian Vettel, who became world champion in 2010 at the age of 23 years and 134 days. Vettel’s record has not been broken yet and it doesn’t look like it will be any time soon.
