AssangeDAO, which was set up to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, has won the auction for NFT created by Julian Assange and digital artist Murat Pak.
AssangeDAO recently raised 17,422 ETH (approximately $56M) from its community to bid on Clock NFT, and today managed to win NFT by bidding 16,593 ETH (approximately $53M).
“This is an important moment in the history of the DAO,” said Rachel Rose O’Leary, one of the AssangeDAO contributors.
Gabriel Shipton, Julian Assange’s brother and one of the contributors to AssangeDAO, stated on the DAO’s management forum that AssangeDAO should make a maximum bid for Clock NFT.
Clock NFT won by AssangeDAO is part of Pak x Julian Assange’s NFT collection called Censored.
The NFT, named Clock, is a silent clock that counts Assange’s days in prison. Assange was arrested in London in 2019 and is currently likely to be extradited to the United States. All proceeds from the NFT sale will be used in Assange’s legal proceedings.
