Can you shoot a movie without ever leaving your home? In fact, if the movie you’re shooting isn’t The Man From Earth, how many different places do you have to go to shoot a movie? To exaggerate things a little more, if you are aiming to shoot science fiction set in space, how much will the visual effects weigh on you?
German tech entrepreneur Fabian Stelzer, a neuroscientist, is using artificial intelligence to create a ’70s-style sci-fi movie. The only thing in the movie that has not been produced by artificial intelligence will be Stelzer’s own voice.
Is it possible to finish the movie by writing the script?
In the movie “Salt”, we encounter a huge and strange salt structure that appeared on a planet in outer space. Although the script is based on a very simple basis so far, Stelzer, who shares on Twitter, allows his followers to shape the story. Thus, a kind of “Choose your own story” logic is operated with the help of artificial intelligence.
Stelzer, who made a statement on Twitter, does not neglect to share the developments. According to the neuroscientist, this use of artificial intelligence may be as important as the invention of photography, or even as important as the invention of writing. According to Stelzer, many obstacles to making movies are removed thanks to artificial intelligence.
Aiming to complete the film by using artificial intelligences such as DALL-E 2, Stable Diffusion and Midjourney, Stelzer writes the images and sounds to be used in the film in the form of one-minute text descriptions. These descriptions cover everything from camera angles to VHS distortion effects. Stelzer also states that all great things begin as experiments.
