Like many technology giants, YouTube also started to bring its artificial intelligence-supported features to the platform. For example, in the past months, the artificial intelligence-supported dubbing feature has been added to the platform in certain languages. An update on YouTube’s support page yesterday showed that a brand new artificial intelligence feature would come.
The update revealed that Google has started testing automatically generated summaries with artificial intelligence on YouTube.
AI-powered summaries won’t replace video descriptions
According to the explanation on the support page, video summaries created with artificial intelligence will appear in the watch and search sections. The company, which wants to offer an easier viewing experience, states that users can quickly read the summary of the videos and decide whether they are suitable or not with the new feature.
As it is known, content producers on YouTube can add descriptions to their videos. Google underlines that artificial intelligence-supported summaries will not replace these explanations. So it will serve to provide more information about the videos.
The AI-generated summaries are currently being tested on a number of English-language videos and users. There’s no word on when it will debut widely. We also don’t know what the summaries will look like and how long they will be.
