Artificial intelligence will be used for better evaluation of Supreme Court decisions and quick access to precedent decisions. President of the Supreme Court Mehmet Akarca made statements about the artificial intelligence system.

The artificial intelligence system in the Supreme Court will analyze all current Supreme Court decisions. He will summarize the decisions. In addition, citizens will be able to reach precedent decisions quickly. The training of artificial intelligence has begun. It is slated to open this year.

Commenting on the artificial intelligence system, President of the Supreme Court Mehmet Akarca said:

“Although the training of the artificial intelligence system running on the Supreme Court servers is at an early stage, it has been successful in summarizing the decisions. Artificial intelligence is a system that learns the system as data is loaded on itself and actually implements it. The knowledge and capacity created in the Supreme Court in terms of artificial intelligence technology will be applied in the preparation of report papers, reasoned decision writing and other business processes in the near future.”

Will artificial intelligence interfere with decisions?

The artificial intelligence system to be implemented will only summarize the Supreme Court decisions and make it easier to reach precedent decisions. Artificial intelligence will not have any impact on case decisions.

Since 2015, all Supreme Court decisions have been made publicly available. More than 6 million resolutions have been announced so far. Due to the high number of decisions, it is difficult for citizens and judicial units to find the relevant Supreme Court decision. The AI will prepare summaries of 200-300 pages of case files and list linked precedents on an issue.
