Artificial Intelligence Dressed as Publisher [Video]

Game developer Philipp Lenssen shed light on how artificial intelligence can be used in the industry in a game he developed in Unity. Lenssen created AI-powered characters. One of them was a 'publisher' who made comments according to the objects in the game.

Artificial intelligence has managed to add abilities such as creating non-existent human faces, voice acting and creating artistic visuals from text. In recent days, artificial intelligence has appeared in games in a completely different way.

Independent game developer Philipp Lenssen managed to shine a light on the future with Unity, one of the most popular game engines. In the game he developed, Lenssen transformed NPCs into characters who think and speak accordingly with the help of artificial intelligence, and even made a character who made comments like publishers in the game.

Moments when artificial intelligence acts as a publisher in the game, analyzing and talking about the objects in the game:

So how is this possible?

Philipp Lenssen also shared how he integrated artificial intelligence into the game so well. Lenssen shared that he integrated the GPT-3 API into Unity in the game, used the Now We’re Talking animation package, which can be purchased from Unity’s store for mouth animations, and Synty’s models for world objects.

Finally, Lenssen announced that it uses Google’s “Text-to-Speech” engine for texts produced by the language prediction model GPT-3. When all this was brought together and added to the game, the impressive image we saw above emerged.

A guide has also been published for those who want to get down to the technique and improve their own game:

If you want to use artificial intelligence just like Lenssen, the developer came to your aid here as well. Lenssen has also released a guide that comprehensively explains how it does all of this in-game. The guide also included the code Lenssen wrote for the game.
