Alzheimer’s is a neurological disease. However, as a result of the studies carried out so far, a definitive treatment has not been found yet. Early diagnosis is very important as it is a memory related disorder.
Study findings by researchers from the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Investigative Systems Biology Center; showed that artificial intelligence could be used in the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.
Artificial intelligence detected the risk of disease with 90.2% accuracy.
The research team studied lots of data and algorithms and trained an AI to detect Alzheimer’s. Then, MRI images of patients with and without Alzheimer’s disease, collected from various hospitals, were shown to this artificial intelligence.
A total of 11,103 MR images were collected from 2,348 patients with disease risk and 26,892 MR images from 8,456 patients without Alzheimer’s disease. As a result of its calculations, artificial intelligence detected people at risk of disease with an accuracy of 90.2%.
