Block deadly robots
San Francisco police acted so that the robots could be arranged to carry explosives, including concussive devices intended to confuse the suspect. The Supervisory Board approved the arrangement, but rejected it in the second round.
The use of armed robots was rejected with an 8-3 rejection vote in the final vote before it was sent to the governor’s approval. In the first vote, the relevant article of the regulation was accepted with 8-3 affirmative votes. After the great reactions, the board rescinded its decision.
While Boston Dynamics and five other robot manufacturers have stated that they absolutely do not accept the use of armed robots, the border security unit, some states and some countries such as Germany have allowed the robots to be armed if necessary.
