ARM can’t leave China
ARM, which decided to exit by closing all its offices in China last year, applied to transfer its assets to Softbank. In the last 10 months, the Chinese authorities have still not been able to reach a conclusion on the application.
Having plans to go public this year, ARM decided to turn its ARM China operations in China into an independent venture and transfer it to Softbank. Thus, he would have given up his 47 percent share. ARM’s global plans are also delayed as China delays paperwork.
Some Chinese officials say the government does not want to cut ties with ARM. It is among the information that China, which has been subjected to a heavy embargo on the chip side, is not willing to break its ties with ARM, at least in technology assistance. However, Softbank hopes that approvals will be given shortly.
