Although we hear the ARM Neoverse concept mostly in Nvidia Grace server processors, the company has been working since 2019. This year Neoverse architecture has been upgraded to the second generation.

What is ARM Neoverse?

ARM Neoverse is the company’s new architecture for high-performance computers and servers. This architecture includes the performance-oriented V-series, the efficiency-oriented E-series, and the N-series that combines the two.

In 2019, the Neoverse N1 platform was launched with DDR4 and PCIe Gen4 support. In the same year, the Neoverse E1 platform took the field, and in 2020, the Neoverse V1 platform took the stage with DDR5 and PCIe Gen5 support.

In line with the incoming requests, ARM also makes the Neoverse architecture better. 3 new Neoverse cores based on ARM v9 have been prepared. The Neoverse V2 platform, which is also based on Nvidia Grace processors, comes with support for DDR5, PCIe Gen5 and CXL 2.0 interconnect standards. Neoverse N2, which offers the same support, focuses on more efficiency. The Neoverse E2 platform, on the other hand, targets cost-conscious servers with Cortex-A510 cores. Apart from Nvidia, many companies such as HP, Red Hat, SAP HANA have switched to Neoverse architecture.

Next year, we will see that all three platforms get new generation cores. Probably the next generation ARM architecture will give life to both mobile platforms, laptop platforms and server platforms.
