Senator Wendy Rogers introduced a bill to make Bitcoin a legal currency in the state of Arizona, USA.
The proposed bill aims to include Bitcoin in the currencies legally accepted in Arizona, making the asset a means of payment and enabling citizens to pay debts, public fees, taxes and dues using Bitcoin.
If the law goes into effect, currently all financial transactions made in US dollars can be made with Bitcoin. Citizens can choose to receive their salary directly in Bitcoin.
The bill generally emphasizes Bitcoin rather than a cryptocurrency. There is no mention of any other digital asset in the bill.
If the bill is approved, Arizona could become the first US state to accept Bitcoin.
