Argent received an investment of $40 million.

DeFi wallet Argent received a $40 million investment led by Skype and Fabric Ventures co-founder Jaan Tallinn’s investment firm Metaplanet. In addition to Starkware, Jump Crypto and Animoca Brands, prominent names such as Paradigm, Index Ventures and Creandum also contributed to the investment. The funding will be used for Argent’s plans to support the DeFi and web3 range of events.

Co-founder and CEO Itamar Lesuisse said the following in an interview with The Block:

“Argent is still focused on finance, but we want to play a big role in other dimensions of the NFT space as well. So NFT is like gaming, virtual real estate… We want to be the de facto wallet for gaming.”

Founded in 2017, Argent officially launched a new version of its crypto wallet built on Ethereum scaling solution zkSync last March to reduce DeFi costs and reduce its environmental impact.
