The iOS 16.1 update released yesterday introduces support for Live Events, a new type of persistent Lock Screen notification that lets you monitor information in real time. Live Events appear on the lock screen, but they also appear on Dynamic Island if you have an iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max. So which apps support Live Events to experience this innovation?
Apps that support Live Events
Developers are starting to roll out support for Live Events, and we’ve rounded up some of the apps that use the new feature.
Slopes: Ski & Snowboard (Free with In-App Purchases)
Ski and snowboard app Slopes uses Live Events to let users watch two customizable stats, along with information about who else is at the resort. It also provides a daily performance chart. Users can choose stats including vertical distance, speed, number of runs, time spent on the slope, and more.
There is support for Dynamic Island for iPhone 14 Pro users. It also provides quick access to tools such as pause and resume while taking a break.

Flighty (Free with Premium Option)
Flight tracking app Flighty offers Live Events to keep an eye on upcoming and ongoing flights. The Live Event app displays on the Lock Screen three hours before a flight and displays essential information such as time to departure, gate, flight status, reservation code, seat number and more.
After takeoff, the app includes an offline progress bar that lets you know how much time is left on the flight. On the iPhone 14 Pro models, the Dynamic Island integration lists flight information at the top of the iPhone whenever there is a critical update, such as a delay. The Dynamic Island Live Activity also displays the departure countdown and house number while other apps are in use.
The Live Event is available for free on the first flight, but Pro membership required after that. Flighty Pro is priced at $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year.
