In 2020, a Chinese research team introduced an application that turns the photos you take into anime. While the application, called AnimeGAN, was met with great interest by fans of Hayao Miyazaki, Makato Shinkai and Satoshi Kon, social media users also showed great interest. This artificial intelligence tool based on machine learning was also praised for its speed and high resolution.
However, the developers of the application have now introduced the advanced version of the application under the name AnimeGAN V2 to fix some of AnimeGAN’s problems. Any photo can be turned into anime in different styles in the application available on Github. Hugging Face also offers a demo version of the app. However, on this demo site, only the photos with your face can be converted into anime for now, and the loading time can take quite a long time.
