READING NOW Apple’s new processor M2 Ultra in performance test!

Excitement continues for the M2 Ultra chip introduced at Apple’s WWDC 2023 conference on June 5th. The processor, which raises the bar for performance with its high-end technical features, has recently appeared in performance tests. So how did the Apple M2 Ultra perform here?

Apple M2 Ultra spotted on Geekbench

The Apple M2 Ultra scored 1,956 and 27,945 points in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core test results, respectively. While the Geekbench 5 platform underlines that the Mac Studio, which entered the test, has 192 GB of RAM, it also points out that it is running the beta version of macOS 14 Sonoma.

Things are no different in the Geekbench 6 database. Because the chipset showed a high level of performance and managed to score 2,837 points in single-core tests and 21,730 points in multi-core tests.

Let’s compare the M2 Ultra processor with its competitors. Intel’s Core i9-13900K scored 2,300 points in single-core and 27,000 points in multi-core during tests. AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X processor, on the other hand, achieved 2,300 and 25,000 points in single and multi-core mode, respectively.

Processor Single Core Multi Core
Apple M2 Ultra 1956 27,945
Intel Core i9-13900K 2,300 27,000
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 2,300 25,000

According to Apple, the M2 Ultra processor offers 20 percent faster CPU performance compared to its predecessor. This means that the US tech giant is the fastest chipset ever. Benchmark performance shows the chipset is 10 percent faster in single-core and multi-core test results than the previous model.

The M2 Ultra contains 134 billion transistors. This value is 20 billion more than the value of M1 Ultra. With a unified memory architecture supporting up to 192GB of memory capacity, it provides 50 percent more capacity than the M1 Ultra and twice the memory bandwidth of the M2 Max at 800GBps. Featuring a 20 percent more powerful CPU than the M1 Ultra chip, the chip includes a larger and up to 30 percent faster GPU and up to 40 percent faster Neural Engine.
