There has been a remarkable development regarding the US-based technology giant Apple. It turned out that the company has filed a new patent on foldable screen technology with the US Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO). The patent, which was detected by Patently Apple, seems to put one of the most important problems in foldable screen phones into history.
Foldable screen phones have become popular in recent years. However, these phones have a very serious problem. Screens with micro-cracks during the fold-open movement reduce the life of the device relatively. Here, Apple states that it can solve this problem with its patent.
Apple develops ‘self-healing’ protective layer

According to the information obtained, the technology patented by Apple adds a new protective layer to the foldable screens. This protective layer increases screen durability. However, its special technology can self-repair micro-cracks and cracks on the screen.
Cracks when folding the screen will be self-healing
One of the remarkable points in Apple’s patent is about the double-sided movement. Apple argues that the technology it has developed is effective in both inward and outward folds. We haven’t seen a phone that can fold both in and out so far, so we may come across a unique product as Apple uses the said patent in a real product. However, it is too early to dream…
This is what foldable iPhones might look like; but it may never come…
Tech giants like Apple receive hundreds of patents every year on many of the technologies they work on, but most of these patents are not even tried on a prototype. Therefore, the fact that Apple has received such a patent does not mean that the foldable iPhone will be introduced for sure. However, we can easily say that Apple stands on this technology.
