Apple will train its artificial intelligence with map application

Apple, to train some productive AI models, the map service will use images captured by the looking AROUND feature.

Look Around can be described as the equivalent of Google Street View’s Apple ecosystem. The company first released this feature with the Apple Maps renewal in 2019. In these visuals, Apple also blurred faces and plates photographed on Look Around images to protect people’s privacy. Google is doing the same application.

“Thanks to artificial intelligence, we will improve the algorithms that blur the faces and plates in the images published in the Maps and Look Around. In addition, we will correct the fuzzy images in the new images collected in March 2025 thanks to artificial intelligence,” he said. The company thus emphasizes that the artificial intelligence service will also train itself while working on these images.

Google has been using Street View to train AI models for years. For example, in 2017, researchers from the company trained a machine learning model to produce professional -looking photos from a data set collected from Street View. Now Apple, with a 8 -year delay, starts to train its own artificial intelligence by doing a similar work.
