Apple is introducing a new feature that will slightly reduce the clutter in the App Store. According to support documents spotted by MacRumors, the App Store now supports unlisted apps that users can only access via a direct link. If a developer feels that their software is not suitable for general use, they can request it through Apple’s website and distribute it as an unlisted app.
If Apple accepts the request, the app will not appear in “any App Store categories, recommendations, charts, search results, or other listings.” It will be available via a direct link. This new delivery method is said to be ideal for applications designed for specific organizations, special events, research studies, and other similar use cases. However, it is stated that the TestFlight process will also be applied for unlisted applications.
