Apple Watch gets satellite connection in two years: So what will this feature do?

Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman said the Apple Watch will have satellite connectivity within two years. This feature, which has also been on the agenda for iPhones before, will allow users to send short text messages to their relatives in case of emergency while they are out of coverage.

Thanks to the satellite connection feature, it will be possible to communicate with emergency services in places where there is no network signal. Thus, current status and location information can be shared. It should be noted that this feature cannot be used for normal calls or access to the internet via satellite.

Globalstar highlights as satellite partner

Gurman thinks Apple Watch will get satellite link support in 2022 or 2023 . However, we also hear that Apple plans to integrate the technology into iPhones. It is even said that the iPhone 14 may have a satellite connection feature.

According to the veteran editor, Apple’s business partner in this field will be the satellite company Globalstar. The US-based firm signed an agreement last February to purchase 17 new satellites for $327 million to serve a “potential customer”.
