Tensions between China and the United States escalated after the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s last visit to Taiwan’s capital Taipei. In light of this incident, Apple also felt the need to issue a warning to its suppliers.
iPhone 14 will be produced simultaneously in China and India
The company urged its suppliers to comply with Chinese customs laws to avoid fines or import barriers on shipments from Taiwan to China. Apple thinks that China may make an attempt to take revenge on the USA.
Apple does not want to have problems with production
The Cupertino-based tech company has informed its suppliers that China has started to strictly enforce the rule that all parts and components made in Taiwan must be labeled “Taiwan, China” or “Chinese Taipei” as the place of manufacture.
The decision in question reinforces this view of China, which considers Taiwan an integral part of its territory. Failure to comply with customs laws may result in shipments being detained by Chinese customs authorities, resulting in fines and import bans.
