Although Apple and Samsung are two big rivals, they actually have some kind of partnership. Samsung has long supplied displays to various Apple products. Although the two giant companies have come face to face on this issue from time to time, their partnership has been going on for a long time. However, Apple aims to end the dependency on Samsung for the screen.

Apple will produce its own screens

Samsung, which provides screens to Apple products, follows a very strict policy of hiding its technologies. The company has even banned Apple engineers from entering Samsung factories. Seeking to protect its intellectual property, including its OLED technology, Samsung is keeping things tight.

After an incident in 2017, Apple engineers went to South Korea and wanted to meet with Samsung’s display department. However, due to Samsung’s strict policies, Apple officials were unable to enter the South Korean manufacturer’s facilities.

In addition, there are different problems between companies. Supply is one of them. It is stated that events such as Samsung’s sending thousands of extra MacBook screens to Apple, despite Apple’s decrease in demand figures in the past years, caused problems between the two companies to grow.

On top of all these developments, Apple has partnered with other display suppliers such as LG and BOE to reduce its dependency on Samsung for display. But despite these partnerships, Samsung remains the primary supplier for iPhone displays.

Apple, on the other hand, is trying to develop its own microLED technology. It is stated that the engineers of the company stated that it is more difficult than expected to develop this display technology. Moving slower than expected in screen production, Apple plans to use screens bearing its signature in smart watch models in 2024 or 2025.

Although there are certain problems between the two companies, we can say that Apple will have to rely on Samsung for many years to come. So what do you think about this partnership between Samsung and Apple? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
