The virtual reality helmet Apple developed and kept secret behind closed doors no longer fits in the sack. The software ecosystem developed around the helmet was accidentally leaked onto the internet.
What will the Apple VR helmet offer?
Apple has been known to invest in virtual reality for a long time, but there was still no information about helmets. There was only information leaked by close sources, but now concrete information has come.
A private Apple code repository on GitHub was accidentally made public. An iOS developer also had a chance to access these files, at least until they were made private again.
It appears that Apple is using an operating system called realityOS for its new helmet. Certain applications access this operating system. In other words, interaction can be provided between iOS and realityOS. realityOS will soon be tested in the Apple Xcode simulator app.
No details of the hardware related to the Apple VR helmet could be found. Cropped Apple M1 chip, special lenses, steam cleaning system, standalone realityOS operating system are among the known ones for now.
