Apple took action for security: User data will be better protected!

Apple took action after the iCloud scandal. In addition to protecting iCloud data with end-to-end encryption, new security features are coming for iMessage and Apple ID.

Apple announced that the Communication Key Verification for iMessage, Security Keys for Apple ID feature will be brought to all iPhones and other devices in 2023.

iMessage Contact Key Verification

iMessage Communication Key Verification will allow users facing extraordinary digital threats such as journalists, human rights activists and government officials to verify that they are messaging only with people they identify.

When iMessage Contact Key Authentication is turned on, the user will be warned when there is an attempt to eavesdrop on conversations. As an added layer of security, users will be able to verify that they are communicating with a secure contact by comparing the contact verification code via FaceTime or another secure calling app.

Security Keys for Apple ID

Security Keys for Apple ID will enable users to better protect their accounts through third-party physical security keys.

This feature will strengthen Apple’s two-factor authentication; Hardware security key will be required instead of authentication code.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, says users are working hard to keep their most sensitive data and communications safe.
