Apple may be preparing to switch to the under-screen camera with the iPhone 16 family. A reliable source claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature under-display Face ID technology for a more convenient on-screen experience.
Apple will test under-screen Face ID on iPhone 16 Pro
According to the report in The Elec, Apple will test the under-screen Face ID on the iPhone 16 Pro. It will carry the necessary components for Face ID authentication to the bottom of the screen with the iPhone 16 Pro.
The report also explained that the hole in the screen for the front camera will not be removed, it will only increase the overall screen experience. It is worth noting that it will have a similar design to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro, as the under-screen technology is not yet ready to be implemented.
It should be said that Apple will adopt the under-screen Face ID technology in the long term. It was claimed that after the iPhone 16 Pro, all models will switch to under-panel cameras. This seems to align with the roadmap laid out by screen analyst Ross Young.
According to Ross Young, Apple will test a different display design on its Pro and regular models each year. For example, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus have a notch, while the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have Dynamic Island.
