Trying to prevent businesses that use their own name rights or logos at every opportunity, by suing them, Apple has now targeted a film company. The subject of the lawsuit is a movie of the same name.
Lawsuit against Apple-Man movie
A case similar to the lawsuit filed by the Sky publishing giant for the game No Man’s Sky or the lawsuit filed by Take Two Interactive for the game It Takes Two is between Apple and the producer of the Apple-Man comedy movie.
Directed by Ukrainian independent director Vasyl Moskalenko, Apple-Man is about a hero who gains superpowers by eating an apple. The approval of the director’s name registration application to the US patent office prompted Apple to act.
Apple states that it will fight the application aggressively on the grounds that it will create confusion for its own brand. The company prepared a 467-page file. The director of the film, which was brought to life by collecting donations on Kickstarter, is worried. He states that if he cancels the naming rights, there will be no obstacle for Apple to ban the movie completely.
