With Apple’s introduction of AirPods, the wireless earphones market has grown significantly. Although Apple’s market leadership continues, companies such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Skullcandy have also captured a significant market share with their popular products. In the first quarter of 2022, the wireless headphone market followed an interesting path.
AirPods grew 3%, Beats grew 553%
Apple leads the way in wireless headphone sales, with AirPods and Beats brands. Although AirPods make up the majority of Apple’s wireless headphone sales, Beats managed to sell 2.4 million units with a 553% growth. AirPods, on the other hand, managed to sell 19.3 million units in the first quarter of 2022, showing a 3% growth compared to the previous year. Samsung, which is right behind Apple, has a market share of about 10%, but the Galaxy Buds series showed a 13% decline. JBL, under Samsung’s Harman brand, showed a growth of 31%.
In the rest of the report, it is seen that Xiaomi experienced a 16% decrease. The fourth in the market, Skullcandy, achieved a 53% growth and sold 3.3 million units. The general wireless headphone market, on the other hand, achieved a 17% growth in the first quarter of 2022, selling 68.2 million units. The average product price of Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Skullcandy and Edifier, which are in the top 5 of the market, is stated as 144 dollars.
