Apple Glasses?
This study, conducted by a team in Apple’s hardware engineering department, aims to determine the key features for the company’s own smart glasses design by evaluating existing market products. Within the scope of the Atlas project, Apple employees will experience existing smart glasses and provide feedback. We have seen before that Apple uses its employees in market and product research.
It is claimed that the company may develop a product that rivals Meta’s smart glasses, which are offered in collaboration with Ray-Ban and have basic features. Like Meta’s $299 glasses, it is said that Apple’s smart glasses may have features such as video shooting, calling and voice assistant support. Meta’s smart glasses do not have any augmented reality features, that is, a display of information on the glass.
While smart glasses technology is developing rapidly, Apple’s competitors are also making progress in this field. Meta and Snap recently introduced augmented reality glasses. But neither product will be ready for consumers for at least a few years. Current prototypes are mostly aimed at getting application developers to adopt this concept. On the other hand, Apple took its first step into a similar field with Vision Pro. Vision Pro received limited attention because it was heavy and quite expensive. That’s why it is reported that the company is also working on a more affordable version.
