In 2020, Apple bought the application Dark Sky, which is famous for its accurate weather forecasts. As a result, the technology giant closed the access of the application from Android devices. Dark Sky, the most downloaded weather app on iPhones shortly after its purchase, was removed from the App Store in September. Today, Apple has completely closed the Dark Sky application. In other words, it will no longer be possible to access the application from installed phones. Technology giant Apple directs its users to another application instead of Dark Sky.

Apple has integrated Dark Sky features into its own app

As the name suggests, the Dark Sky application is famous for accurately predicting the rainy season. For this reason, it was preferred by many Apple customers. Apple has added the features included in Dark Sky to its own Weather app. In this way, the application became more powerful than before.

At the beginning of last month, Apple shared the information that includes precipitation, hourly weather forecasts and many more data for the users of the Dark Sky application for the users of the Weather application. In this way, users have the necessary document for the features of the application.

For Apple customers to use Dark Sky’s features in the iOS Weather app, their device must be running iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura. Apple’s document also includes information that some features will only be available in certain countries.

In addition, from March 23, Apple will also prevent third-party applications from receiving data over Dark Sky. The tech giant is instead directing third-party apps to fetch data from Apple’s new WeatherKit API.
