How fast will connected devices and accessories charge?
Apple says that all iPhone 15 models will charge Apple Watch, AirPods charging case and other small accessories at 4.5W speed via the USB-C port. Although Apple announced this feature, it did not share wattage information. iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max offer USB 3.2 Gen 2 support, providing data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Apple announced that Pro models support USB 3, but the exact specifications have been confirmed. Since the iPhone 15 Pro will come with a USB-C cable that supports USB 2 speeds, the user will need to purchase a separate cable for higher speeds.
The document also states that all iPhone 15 models support DisplayPort, which enables 4K HDR quality video mirroring to an external monitor or TV with a supported USB-C DisplayPort cable or an adapter. However, unlike certain iPad models, extended display mode is not supported on the iPhone. iPhone 15 Pro models also support recording ProRes video directly to an external storage device at 4K 60 fps quality.
