Apple released emergency patches today for its latest operating system updates. The patches released as ‘Quick Security Response’ close critical vulnerabilities detected in iPhone, iPad and MacBooks.
Although Apple did not openly share these security statements, it was explained in the company’s latest ‘Quick Security Responses’ notes as follows:
What are Quick Security Responses?
“This Quick Security Answer offers important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”
Apple releases quick security update for the first time
These Quick Security Answers from Apple have been released for iOS 16.4.1, iPadOS 16.4.1 and macOS 13.3. With the update, the phrase “(a)” has been added to the end of the version names of the operating systems.
However, the update did not come out well…
Many users had problems while releasing Apple’s security update. Although updates can be downloaded, some users were unable to install the update on their devices. Especially on iPhones, the error appeared that the device was not connected to the internet.
So, why did Apple release such an update?
Although Apple did not share the rationale for the update, last month, Citizen Lab detected a critical vulnerability in the “Lock Mode” on devices. Due to the vulnerability in question, it was noted that Apple’s smart home platform HokeKit allowed attacks.
