The fact that almost all modern technological devices come with USB-C input has been a source of serious criticism against Apple for many years. The company, which still uses USB 2-based Lightning technology in iPhone devices, will have to switch to USB-C connection by the European Union by 2024. In this direction, Apple is preparing to update many of its products with USB-C.

Mac accessories will also be updated with a USB-C port

Mark Gurman, known for his sources close to Apple, talked about the company’s USB-C plans. According to Gurman, Apple will include a USB-C port in the iPhone 15 model, which it will introduce in 2023. In addition, the entry-level iPad, which is expected to be updated before the end of the year, will also have a USB-C port. The iPhone SE, which is expected to be introduced in March 2024, will most likely have a Lightning port, but the iPhone SE models that come after it will include a USB-C connection.

Magic Mouse Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad accessories will also be updated with USB-C connection. These accessories are expected to be introduced with the new iMac or Mac Pro. It is thought that AirPods products will also be updated with USB-C in the coming years.

Apple will eventually abandon USB-C

According to Gurman, Apple will use the USB-C port as a pass-through. The company still sees wireless connection technologies as the future and continues its research on this subject. According to Gurman, the USB-C era in Apple products will last much shorter than Lightning, and the company will eventually switch to wireless charging and connection technologies.
