When Apple introduced the iPhone 12 mini in 2020 and the iPhone 13 mini a year later, small phone fans were very pleased. However, according to the latest reports, after nearly three years of availability, it seems that the end of the road has come for these 5.4-inch devices. Because it is said that Apple will end the production of iPhone mini.

iPhone mini production is being cut

As Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted, iPhone 13 mini stocks are dwindling and stocks are not being updated quickly. This shortage indicates that production of the iPhone 13 mini may be stopped after Apple announces new iPhones at its “Wonderlust” event tomorrow.

Apple didn’t launch the iPhone 14 mini last year, but it did offer the iPhone 13 mini as a lower-cost option, starting at $599 in the US. It seems likely that Apple will stop production of the device after introducing the iPhone 15 series on Tuesday. Apple’s new series will probably consist of the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max, 4.7-inch iPhone SE and 6.1-inch iPhone 13.

However, the iPhone mini series may be completely history. It was thought that there was pent-up demand for a smaller iPhone, but actual data showed that the iPhone mini had low sales compared to other iPhone models. In April 2022, research firm CIRP estimated that the iPhone 13 mini accounted for only 3 percent of total iPhone 13 sales in the US in the first quarter of that year. This situation is similar on a global scale. Going forward, customers who want a small iPhone from Apple will have to settle for the entry-level iPhone SE, but even that device is rumored to be updated with a larger 6.1-inch display within the next year or two.
