New silicone accessories will not be produced
Apple will not produce leather iPhone cases after launching the iPhone 15 series; instead, it is expected to release accessories made from premium material, which is said to be marketed as FineWoven. Silicone accessories are not expected to be removed from sale anytime soon; Instead, it is said that there will be no additional new colors for existing models and that there will be a more gradual transition.
difficult to recycle
Although Apple’s current leather and silicone cases have a lower carbon footprint than their counterparts, they are not made from any recycled material. Materials such as fluoroelastomer are also difficult to recycle due to their heat-resistant properties and strong structure. FineWoven will be Apple’s first next-generation material and will soon replace leather, but it could lead to a decline in silicone accessories.
