AirPods with USB-C port and Mac/iPhone accessories on the way
Apple has been criticized for still using Lightning in the iPhone series in recent years. The company, which has started to switch to USB-C on Mac and iPad devices, still continues to use Lightning in iPhone and iPhone / Mac accessories. But it looks like Apple may finally take the universal road. Known for his sources close to Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo stated that many of Apple’s devices with Lightning ports, including AirPods, will switch to USB-C.
According to Kuo, Apple has suspended its all-wireless iPhone plans. The underdeveloped wireless charging technologies of our age and the MagSafe ecosystem, which has not reached sufficient maturity, have led Apple to alternative plans. Kuo stated that devices with Lightning ports, especially iPhone and AirPods, will switch to USB-C. Apple’s devices that still use Lightning input can be listed as follows: iPhone, entry-level iPad, AirPods family, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, Magic TrackPad, MagSafe Battery accessory family for iPhone. According to Kuo, Apple will update these devices with USB-C in the near future.
Apple can change Lightning port on iPhone to Type-C
Apple’s transition to USB-C will not be a short time. Most likely, the first USB-C supported iPhone will appear with the iPhone 15 series. Thus, 2023 and later Apple devices may eventually switch to the USB-C standard.
