According to a new leak published by The Information, Apple may be preparing a new iPad with a large 16-inch screen. The same leak suggests that this product may launch in the fourth quarter of 2023, although it is not clear.
While rumors of a 14- to 15-inch iPad have been circulating for a while, this is the first time we’ve heard of a 16-inch iPad. Mark Gurman, known for Apple leaks, made claims for the 14- and 15-inch iPads in 2021, and recently said that a larger model could be launched in the next year or two. Supply chain analyst Ross Young backed this prediction in June and said we might see a 14.1-inch iPad Pro with Mini LEDs.
Currently, Apple’s largest iPad model is the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. But adding a few inches of extra screen space can make the device ideal for professionals. Stage Manager, an iPadOS 16 feature that is expected to make switching between apps easier, could also be a useful feature on this model.
Apple made a breakthrough in the iPad lineup last month with the launch of the updated 12.9-inch iPad Pro alongside the more expensive entry-level iPad with USB-C. But the iPad’s price put it in an awkward position. Currently priced at $449 instead of $329, it’s almost as expensive as an M1 MacBook Air when you add the $249 Magic Keyboard Folio and $99 Apple Pencil.
