Apple, which made a big impact with the M1 processor last year, managed to carry this success to the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors. The M2 Pro and M2 Max introduced today stand out with their much higher performance and lower power consumption.
Apple M2 Pro features
Produced with second-generation 5nm technology, the M2 Pro will come up with 40 billion transistors, approximately 20 percent more than the M1 Pro and twice as much as the M2. Powered by up to eight high performance and four efficiency cores, the M2 Pro is supported by 10 or 12 core configurations and up to 32GB of unified memory.
The integrated graphics unit in the M2 Pro will be configurable with up to 19 cores with a larger L2 cache. Thus, it will offer up to 30 percent more image processing and gaming performance than the M1 Pro.
Apple M2 Max features
Apple’s most popular processor, the M2 Max, further enhances the performance and capabilities of the chipset. With 67 billion transistors, 10 billion more than the M1 Max and 3 times more than the M2, the processor offers a combined memory bandwidth of 400GB/s, twice as much as the M2 Pro with up to 96GB of combined memory.
Also, according to Apple, the M2 Max is currently the fastest processor in the industry in performance per watt. The Cuppertino giant states that the new processor will offer superior performance in all tasks, from visual effects to training machine learning models and compositing gigapixel images.
