Roadside assistance via satellite
The new feature, announced at the iPhone 15 event, allows users whose vehicle breaks down at a point where the phone does not have reception, to receive roadside assistance via satellite. The application offers the user 5 different predefined faults. These are listed as the vehicle locking, battery running out, tire burst, vehicle not starting and being stranded on the road.
After the user selects the fault, the system sends a message to the defined technical service. The technical service can also send a message after detecting the user via GPS. Roadside assistance announced for iPhone 15 is also compatible with iPhone 14.
The roadside assistance feature is only available in the USA and can be used by those who use AAA company’s $65 monthly service. Apple stated that it will launch a new subscription soon. As you may remember, emergency satellite communication was offered free of charge for the first 2 years.
