Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, revealed that Apple is working on a new MacBook Air. Judging by what the famous analyst said, the device will carry a 13.4-inch OLED screen. In other words, it will include a smaller panel than the current model with a 13.6-inch LCD screen.

Young also stated that the transition to OLED display on the MacBook Pro may not be possible until 2026. This is because the Apple supply chain is not yet ready to meet the high demand for laptop-optimized OLED displays.

Advantages of switching to OLED

Ross Young stated that until then, suppliers will be focusing on OLED displays for tablets such as the iPad Pro. The analyst said in a previous statement that Apple plans to launch the OLED-screen MacBook Air and 11.1/13-inch iPad Pro models in 2024.

Macs and iPads with OLED screens will have better brightness and contrast ratio than models with LCD panels. It will also have a positive impact on battery life as they will save more power. According to Young, Apple may launch a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch LCD this year.
