Technology giant Apple introduced the new generation Mac Studio as part of the WWDC 2023 event held today. Powered by Apple’s most powerful processors ever, the M2 Ultra and M2 Max, the new Mac Studio comes with performance that will put traditional desktop processors on the shelf. Design-wise, it’s hard to distinguish the new Mac Studio from the old one. However, the real upgrade is in the processor and performance. According to Apple, the new M2 Ultra processor offers 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU, 32-core Neural Engine and up to 192GB of combined memory support. On paper, it should be noted that the new processor is based on the M2 Max chip introduced in the new generation MacBook Air. But there is a big leap forward here.
According to Apple, the M2 Ultra offers 20% better CPU performance and 30% better GPU performance than the M1 Ultra. So much so that Apple states that the M2 Ultra is 6 times faster than the fastest Intel-based iMac. It’s also up to 50% faster rendering in After Effects and 4x faster than the most powerful Intel-based iMac.On the back of the Mac Studio are four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10Gb Ethernet port, an HDMI port and two USB-A ports. On the front, there are two USB-C and SD card slots. In addition, Mac Studio with M2 Ultra, which supports up to six Pro Display XDRs, comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support.
