iCloud is now more secure!
Today, Apple offers end-to-end encryption support for iCloud across 14 data categories. The newly introduced Advanced Data Protection will increase this number to 23. Thus, we can say that the platform will offer more security in Device backups, Notes, Photos and many other sections. It will also make it impossible for Apple to provide the contents of an encrypted backup to law enforcement.
As it is known, Apple holds the keys of encrypted data under standard data protection. However, the software giant, stating that end-to-end encrypted data will only be “encrypted on devices signed in with Apple ID,” aims to protect data against attacks on iCloud account. Here are the new categories that have gained end-to-end encryption support:

In a press release, Apple stated that the only “main” categories not included in the Advanced Data Protection feature are iCloud Mail, Contacts, and Calendar, and that these apps “require global systems of email, contacts, and calendars.” iCloud Advanced Data Protection feature as of now Available to users of the Apple beta program in the US, the feature is expected to be widely available by the end of the year.
