One of the most striking innovations in CarPlay was the smart notification filtering feature. Accordingly, iOS 18.1 introduces the Reduce Disturbance focus mode. This feature uses artificial intelligence to determine which notifications are truly urgent and only allows these notifications to interrupt focus modes.
Users will also be able to enable smart filtering for any custom focus mode from Settings. In this way, drivers can receive only the most important notifications and mute the others while focusing on the road. Notifications deemed less urgent by Apple Intelligence are filtered out.
