$2 billion demanded
In the lawsuit in question, Apple is accused of installing a power management tool that hides battery problems found in certain iPhones and limits performance to various iPhone models, from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone X. In a statement, the Cuppertino giant denied the accusations, stating that this legal step had no basis.
Apple denied the accusations.
In addition, Apple noted that the power management update introduced in 2017 reduced the performance of the iPhone 6 by an average of 10 percent, and that affected customers were offered a cheaper battery replacement. The tech giant states that only a small number of iPhone 6s batteries are faulty and has issued a public apology about it.
It should be noted that the new lawsuit is not the first lawsuit filed against Apple in the UK. In another lawsuit filed last year, involving 25 million people, Apple was asked to pay a fine of 750 million euros ($907 million).
