With the improvements captured, 4 performance and 4 efficiency cores can perform 18 percent better in total. The graphics unit with up to 10 cores is 35 percent faster than the previous generation.

16-core artificial intelligence unit can reach a performance value of 15.8 TOPS. While supporting 6K external displays, ProRes decoding and encryption are also among its capabilities. The chip also includes support for up to 24GB of LPDDR5 unified memory. The total bandwidth is 100GB/s and 50 percent more than the M1 chip.

Apple has again put certain Intel processor laptops in the tests. Relative CPU performance per watt is 1.9 times higher than a laptop with a Core i7 1255U processor. Relative graphics performance is 2.3 times higher than a laptop with a Core i7-1260P processor. The Apple M2 processor first took its place in MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops.
