Why doesn’t Apple approve apps?
App removals and disapprovals are an important part of the report. Apple disapproved 1,679,694 apps last year. The majority of apps (1,018,415) were rejected due to performance issues. Of the applications that were not accepted into the store for security, design, legal and various reasons, 253,466 were approved after the first rejection.
Most application removal requests come from China
So, how many apps have been removed? Apple removed 186,195 apps from its store in 2022. On a category basis, the most games were removed from the App Store with 38,883, followed by assistive tools, business, education and life applications. Reasons for uninstalling apps are mostly design and fraud related. China, India, Pakistan, and Russia are among the countries that request app removal.
Apple does not forgive scammers
Information on developer account data was also shared in the transparency report. More than 36 million people have Apple developer accounts. 428,487 developer accounts have been terminated. Most account closures were due to fraud. While developers are given the option to appeal, appeals to terminations for fraud are often denied. Apple also stated that they have terminated the accounts of more than 282 million users.
App Store visit, app download and update data
According to the report, the number of weekly average visitors to the App Store reached 656,739,889, the number of app downloads 747,873,877, and the number of re-downloads reached 1,539,274,266. An average of 40,876,798,492 automatic app updates and 512,545,816 manual app updates were made every week.
