Apple introduced a feature to further expand its ecosystem. The feature, called Universal Control, was first announced in June with macOS Monterey and iPadOS 15. The company has previously stated that it will have to wait a little longer for the feature, which it says will arrive in late autumn.
Universal Control feature until spring 2022
Apple announced a new date for the Universal Control feature, which it announced in June, designed to work seamlessly across multiple Apple devices. The company continues to work to bring this feature to the level they want. Wanting to get an error-free version, Apple pointed to the spring months of 2022 for this. It looks like this feature won’t be coming to macOS Monterey for a while.
Universal Control feature aims to build bridges between devices. It allows users to use a single mouse and keyboard for both Apple devices and drag and drop content between screens. But Universal control isn’t the only major feature missing the first release of Apple’s 2021 software updates. The SharePlay feature, where Mac devices will meet macOS Monterey, also did not find a place for itself in the launch of iOS 15 or macOS Monterey.
Apple devices expected to have Universal Control
- MacBook and Macbook Pro (2016 and above)
- MacBook Air (2018 and above)
- iMac (2017 and later)
- iPad Pro
- iPad Air (3rd generation and above)
- iPad (6th generation and above)
- iPad mini (5th generation and above)
- MacPro 2019
Apple currently does not require any installation for the Universal Control feature. However, both devices must be signed in with the same Apple ID and have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. It will take some time to see how the stable version of Universal Control works. However, demo videos show that the feature works flawlessly.
