Axie Infinity, behind the popular metaverse coin AXS, has made its way to Apple’s App Store. After this development, the price of AXS skyrocketed. Here are the details…

Metaverse coin project, now on the App Store

Sky Mavis, the creator of the play-to-win crypto game Axie Infinity, which became famous during the pandemic, may have taken an important step towards regaining many users lost after a turbulent 2022. The company has announced that the latest version of the blockchain-enabled Axie Infinity video game, which allows players to battle each other while collecting and trading non-fungible tokens (NFTs), or earning rewards, is now available for download from Apple’s App Store.

Sky Mavis released the latest version of the game, “Axie Infinity”: Origins’, released last year. The company initially offers the game on the App Store in a number of countries in Latin America and Southeast Asia. Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin said this limited launch will help the company “collect data on retention rates” before the eventual global launch.

After the announcement, the AXS price jumped more than 12 percent. The cryptocurrency even managed to rise from around $6.80 to $8. However, at the time of writing, it has been withdrawn to $7.55.

Details of App Store listing

The card-based strategy game, which provides players with free non-NFT “starter” characters, will initially be available in the Apple store in Latin America and Asia in countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. With 1.5 million downloads across all platforms, the game plans to continue its global expansion through Google and Apple mobile users.

Sky Mavis is also launching Mavis Market, an NFT marketplace powered by the company’s native Ronin Blockchain. Starting Wednesday, some collections of third-party game or dapp developers distributing on Ronin will be available in the marketplace. The company also plans to open a product store. Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis, said, “Sky Mavis remains committed to our vision of a digital nation with gamers. “He’s excited to work with app stores to open up our ecosystem to the next generation of gamers.”

Meanwhile, Axie Infinity has worked to recover from a $625 million hack last year. In March, it overhauled Ronin’s core systems, making the network more decentralized and secure. In addition, the company has collaborated to expand the Axie Infinity universe. In particular, it has partnered with game development studios such as Tribes Studio, Bali Games, Directive Games and Bowled.io. So it allowed certain games to use the Axie IP.
