Competition in the mobile market started to gain momentum in parallel with the developments in production technologies. In this context, we see that giant manufacturers such as Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple are preparing for 3nm production. Now, according to a new claim, Apple can dominate TSMC’s 3nm production capacity. Well what does it mean? Let’s see together.

To be used on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

According to a new report from Taiwan today, Apple will play a key role in TSMC’s supply of 3nm chips this year. At this point, it is stated that the Cuppertino giant will dominate 90 percent of the Taiwanese manufacturer’s 3nm production capacity. In short, the majority of production volume will be reserved for Apple for use in new iPhones, MacBooks and iPads.

The 3nm manufacturing technology is expected to provide 35 percent power efficiency and 15 percent performance improvement compared to the 4nm A16 used in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The Apple M3, which will include larger upgrades, may initially accompany the 13-inch MacBook Air and the new 24-inch iMac.

Competition in the mobile market may heat up

As you know, both A17 and M3 processors will be based on TSMC’s 3nm process, unlike Qualcomm and other manufacturers. While Apple has reportedly been in talks for these orders since 2020, the first smartphones to carry the 3nm chipset will be the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Therefore, we can say that the competition in the mobile market will intensify.

As a matter of fact, we can see that giants such as Qualcomm, Samsung and MediaTek are fighting for TSMC’s 10 percent capacity. However, it should be noted that the new news has not been confirmed yet. Because TSMC may also tend to increase its capacity.
