Blogger Robert Scoble claimed that Apple developed its own search engine. Scoble cited both his internal contacts and his own conclusions as the source of this information. It also claims that this service will be the most expensive project Apple has ever undertaken.
The competition in the search market does not have many heroes, and the historical rivalry between Google and Apple has long been questioning whether Apple will enter the search business. Although the value of Google Search is hard to pinpoint, we know that search generates the largest portion of ad revenue, totaling $210 billion for 2021.
So why is Apple taking this initiative? One possible explanation is that the number of iOS and Safari users has reached a critical level and is now crowded enough to shake Google’s throne. There is a $20 billion annual agreement between Apple and Google for Google to become the primary search option in Safari. Under this agreement, it is not normally possible for Apple to issue a separate search product. But if Apple switches to its own search engine, it could tear up the deal with Google.
Experts also point out that, using the Microsoft example, a new search engine is unlikely to be successful.
