US-based technology giant Apple introduced MacBook Pro models with a brand new design at an event it held in 2016. What made this laptop unique was the special display called the “Touch Bar”, which was placed above the keyboard and offered touch control. MacBook Pro, which has 13 and 15 inch versions, also attracted attention with being much thinner and lighter than previous models.
Now, there has been a brand new development regarding the 2016 MacBook Pro models. Apple sent a note to its stores and authorized services. In this note, it was written that a group of devices, including the 2016 MacBook Pro, would be added to the list of vintage products. It was also announced that the decision will be effective as of 31 July. The models that Apple will add to the list of vintage products as of July 31 are as follows:
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, with 2 Thunderbolt ports)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, with 4 Thunderbolt ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
- MacBook Air (13-inch, 2015)
- MacBook (12-inch, 2016)
- iMac (21.5 inch, 2015)
- iMac (27-inch, 2015)
- iPad Pro (9.7 inch, Wi-Fi)
- iPad Pro (9.7 inch, Wi-Fi + SIM)
As a matter of fact, this decision is not surprising. Because the company adds it to the vintage list 5 years after it finishes selling a product. Until 2018, there was no support from Apple for products added to the vintage list. That year, however, that situation changed. Apple said it can repair devices for up to 2 years, depending on the supply of spare parts.
